Experienced gardeners that are anxious to get their started seedlings have learned from their own and others mistakes. One of them is to transplant the seedlings of tomatoes, or anything else that has been treated like a baby for eight or ten weeks. My experience has proven that proper nutrition and preping of the plant reduces the effects of moving the sensitive plants into an environment that is hostile in comparison to the warm kitchen window sill.
The application of liquid organic fertilizer, AGgrand, a 4-3-3 mix of 40:1 a couple of weeks prior to transplanting is crucial to minimal stress related of too much sun, or relatively cooler temperatures. Neighbouring plants that have not been prepared with this fertilizer have not done as well. Even later on in the growing and harvesting stages, these palnts have produced more high quality produce.
